Fb RSVP: (https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=118906111529346)

Event Details :

Sunday, June 26th, 2011 @Great Scott, Allston MA.
7 bucks.

Acts :

  1. Devil & a Penny
  2. Mutual Benefit
  3. Celestial Shore (fr. NY)
  4. The Craters

At this show, like unfortunately no bands brought their own records for merchandise that I always love to take look at show, that's little sad. And although I could even talk to the bands and asked about their records which is available online to download,   I definitely always prefer the hard copy.

Un): LiveReport「The Wonder Years Tour Summer2011 - Tallahassee w/n 」

  YES, meet again!
yes it was really great meeting them again, my favorite special folky Boston/Brooklyn band TALLAHASSEE. Well, it shouldn't be first time that I write about them!  At least this might be 3rd times to have them. Dudes, they are fucking awesome! Awesomeness.

Un-secretly? I'm trying to,, I've been trying to introduce themselves into Japan some very considerably and hope tenderly. So "Have you listened to Jealous Hands' ?" that's a first word the singer Brian Barthelms said when I saw him tonight. Yes I have! I have too much (well not too much, just too many times!) listened to the album of their new record and I would say it the best album (in 2011 or eternally)!
Okay, if you haven't had it yet, just go to their web site to grab your copy of it! Get their very hommie-like and creative merchs as well!

☆THE WONDER YEARS TOUR - SUMMER 2011 Tallahassee & The Bears of Blue River☆

 Yeap, this introduction is maybe little too long to have itself before the main body of Live Review comes up... though, I really wanna turn my memory with them back on. My encounter with them was obviously with Brooklyn noise pop trio PARTS & LABOR a couple months ago whom I'm interviewing with for their Japan Tour in July! P&L brought Tallahassee for celebrating an awesome new 7" release party of Boston folky cultural fellows HALLELUJAH THE HILLs at Great Scott in Allston, MA. That show for me was for P&L, but Tallahassee & Hallelujah were so new for me then. I just knew Hallelujah's name of have seen it on some upcoming show list and keep feeling it on my heasd,, like these;

101016_0629~01 101016_0751~01 101016_0751~02

Second time that I saw Tallahassee was again a little long story before that time. Actually my best friend in Boston, Alex Michaels

TBC in very soon!

Thick As Thieves is making a new record currently. And it's featured on May issue's Performer Mag.
And before and after I saw the band at the show, I had been reading the article in a bus on my way during the time of home and venue to imagine how this band provides their own music.

    Looks like these:

I like the article about their current studio works. And would be able to peep how can they make a new record with their personal times.

     Hey dudes,

I know. I'm even recognizing myself in these posts that I'm super lazy to publish incompletely for each. Yes I am laziness especially in these months so far. But last show I saw last week? Pearl and the Beard from Brooklyn, NY also reminded me though, my best favorite Boston band MEAN CREEK played a first show after they won BMP (Best Music Poll) of the Boston Phoenix last week? (yes, these were last week but  I could not just remark myself on the week and not being pointed it on this week as well, well.

BTW, as many of Bostonian music fans know, again since last year's the Boston Phoenix Best Act of the year and Album of the year and some, they MEAN CREEK won the title and cover of the paper again, spent themselves to make and self-released the latest Extended Play "Hommo" finally in January.

Boston Band Crush mentioned it today, about their new song.
Mean Creek has just digitaly released new single as a new song yesterday on June 21st 2011.

★"The Land Of Hopes & Dreams" by MEAN CREEK

A middle tempo first come tune. But that's not at all. You can feel it again new for your brain and distant memory, for sure. This song was played last time I saw them at Great Scott which was their hedlining show following Hands and Knees, Girlfriends

So first, you should grab your copy download of all these guys -- Felix and Volcano!, Earthquake Party!, Mean Creak & You Can Be A Wesley FREE DOWNLOAD stuff. And then, keep checking out their update!!

For me, on the line, Felix and Volcano! is only the one that I never have before. And they're pretty nice to open the night, and I wanted to have their physical record. I don't know they are still printing their EP out on physical press, but still on the digital from up there link, their bandcamp you must have!!

You know what, you don' wanna miss this, Earthquake Party! is featured on Massachusetts'
50 STATES 50 BANDS BEST NEW BAND IN AMERICA (USA) on the BOSTON PHOENIX.

Earthquake Party! might be gonna release their own proper 7" release in near week. But before the release they would allow to release a live EP at this YCBAW presents show!!
(You can also grab it to see the article from the above Boston Phoenix page for FREE.)

I am really excited and looking foward to YCBAW's new upcoming record that they'd raise to make it via Kickstarter before. It might have kinda been while since last time they released previous record.

      TBC~!

...oh wait,  EQP! has finally released their first proper item from their hands, called "vs. pizza" (Cassette tape) in November of 2011. (Now adding to write this part of the paragraph up in February 2012 hahaha.)

★Earthquake Party! / "Pretty Little Hand" (free download single off the cassette "vs. Pizza"!)

      Tracklist on the EQP! tape:
      side A-
1). "Pretty Little Hand" (unreleased new song!)

      side B-
      2)."Nails&Hammers"
      3)."Brains"

      3-song debut cassette limited 300.
I got awesome cd-r demo single passed from Justin, band conductor of the EQP! after their show in O'briens. Still remember he gave me their hand made cds which painted the disk on black into blue paper sleeve just has a hole fitting for the looked vinyl record cd. The cd has 2 songs on itself, one "Brains" (last song of this cassette) and "Fast Girl, Slow Boy," which you can try listening to on their myspave yet.

So these four bands finally have each own releases. Better to report you about them.
And this is what I shot for the show by my creepy mobile cameras:

I've tried to write a review of the Everyday Visuals' 2007 album "Things Will Look Up," but haven't published it yet. I will publish it as soon as possible. Because it might be several seasons ago but whenever I used to open one of my favorite venues in Boston area T.T.Bears page (maybe until pretty recently), a very nice melodic song sings automatically from the page. The song called "I'll Take it All in Stride." I haven't even had much enough chance to see them and also gotten any of their releases yet. That only one album might be kinda enough to get know them how they are honest band.

      Well for surely your start with, I'd recommend this item you can grab very easily.. it's even little old stuff for them...;

Un): LiveReport「Other Lives in the other life.」

This was one of shows what I really wanted to see for couple years.

Maybe when I first came in Boston non, when I first moved to Boston I bought one magazine, FILTER Mag. Then they were featured on one article. And only one female member of the band raid and like attached her elbow on the other male members' knee pillow on a photo of the article.

I still really remember that article image.

After a while, I have dug an album called "Flight of the Flynn" by a band called Kunek.

Here you can buy on Amazon.com:

I should really write this album review, I think. Because this album must be one of the best album that I've ever found by chance in my life. And then, after the entire show I could talk to Other Lives members and they first said "Oh! That's really old school!" (which is my favorite words musical people say,) when I tried to get their autograph and the setlist.

       ~~

It's even setlist of their NY show which is two days later I saw them in Boston.
Other Lives Concert Setlist at Mercury Lounge, New York on June 7, 2011 | setlist.fm

10 songs they played at Mercury Lounge in NY.  I am not sure same as in Boston. After the show I saw, I asked directly to main vocalist Jesse about the setlist but he said they just remember it and he also said that he could write down it on, but yeah it's not good offer to the member after the show ... haha. But I remember they played Kunek song for first song at encore, I guess and believe.

      My Thoughts & Reviews:

First I remember I've read an review of St.Helena's latest album "Modern Tan" on Weekly Dig news paper before.

The Weekly Dig Boston Review of St.Helena / "Modern Tan" (2011) Posted on February 15th, 2011
You can probably grab some free DL songs from the album via their bandcamp, the link you can find on the review, and/or you can also grab the limited physical cd at their show which is I recommend.

So that I was really excited to see the band.
At this show they were four members to play as St.Helena. When I arrive the show, very few people were there to see them like just ten or quoter past nine pm. But I felt comfortable that it's Monday starting week the night and the people not so even drinking a lot and they apparently and nicely concentrated to listen to the music in the hall.

St Helena seemed playing their tunes very relaxingly.
I think their male vocalist as guitar player at this show didn't even take the vocal part. But it seems little wasted their character of sounds I think, because for now writing this review, I found they've gotta their songs with male & female following the vocal melodies by each on some of their tracks. Well, however so, it's like their faces (or I might just miss first song which might be sung by male singer/guitarist Partick?).

      I got a setlist by St.Helena appears:
      1. 8 Months  (*New Song?)
      2. California  (fr. 2011 AL"Modern Tan")
      3. Blue & The Red  (fr. 2011 AL"Modern Tan")
      4. Modern Tan  (fr. 2011 AL"Modern Tan")
      5. Forget About You  (fr. 2011 AL"Modern Tan")
      6. Alibi  (*New Song?)
      7. Legionnaire  (fr. 2011 AL"Modern Tan")
Singer and Keyboards Megan said 5th or 6th song was a new song. But I'm not sure it's just from the latest album or just brand new song, but it's surely nice song.

      Pics of St.Helena:
      St.Helena (IMG_0692)

      IMG_0693

And new artist from Boston for me too next.

      Sara Rabdau & Self-Employed Assassins.
She little reminded me ...The Dresden Dolls' Amanda. But I think different and I don't think it's good idea to be competitive for her. She's having her very original world in her music. Plus the band she's having is amazing. Two synths

      Sarah's Pics:

      Other Lives.

Totally on the show, I've even never seen such small numbers of people seeing show at Brighton Music Hall before, BUT the performances and the response/atmosphere by the audience were the best ever in BMH short history, I can swear.

      I'd even little picked the show lineups' songs up on my Japanese side blog fisrt;

      「競争的でない、故のチョロ。」(Sat) June/5th/2011
(the title meant, even little difficult to translate in though,
"That's because not so competitive, so it's Choro. ")

"Disaster" (MV filmed by Maria Snoek) by Emily Peal

If direct or trying to make it obvious to call Emily's songwriting might be "quirk." The quirk explains her songs most apparently, I think. It would be more said like her stories as her songs.

      TBC!!!
