A slight move away from Birthdays’ usual upbeat and colourful psychedelic electro pop, Pizza Baby sees the Boston group – centred around part-time Emily Reo drummer Sam Yager – edging into darker and more experimental brooding territory. Distorted and wobbling vocals screech in almost Connan Mockasin-style above bass-beats and all kind of electronic noises to wonderful, slightly spooky effect.
